Tips for applying for scholarships

  1. Apply for as many scholarships as you can.
  2. Make sure the scholarship you applying for is real, and not somebody trying to get your personal information.
  3. Remember to apply for local scholarships
  4. Apply early. Doing this allows you time to have somebody write a letter of recommendation if needed.
  5. If an essay is required, make your essay shine. Have someone else proof read it.
  6. Know your audience when writing your essay. Understand who the scholarship committee is and what they are looking for.
  7. Get involved with your community. Scholarship committees (and employers) like to see that you volunteer and take pride in your community.
  8. Look professional. If somebody Googled your name, what would they find?
  9. Be passionate. Let your passion come through when writing an essay.
