FAQs

What can I do with a Private Pilot Certificate?
A Private Pilot Certificate allows you to carry passengers when flying. You are able to fly your friends and family around, going where ever you wish.

Check ride vs. Stage check?
A stage check is needed to progress through the syllabus. It is done with one of our check pilots. A check ride is the last step when working towards your rating. A check ride is with a FAA examiner.

Which one is right for me 141 or 61?
It depends on your long-term career goals. If your dream is to become an airline pilot, part 141 is more structured. Part 141 will allow you to take advantage of our college programs that reduced times required for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot certificate. This may allow you to be hired by an airline with 250-500 hours less flight time.

What type of headset do I need?
Any headset with a general aviation plug will work.

What brand of headset should I get?
A comfortable, properly fitting and functioning headset is a critical piece of equipment needed by every pilot. Ensuring fit of the ear cups, selecting the right weight, and considering the noise reduction capabilities are things you should consider.

In general, the lighter the weight the more comfortable the headset.

An aviation headset’s noise reduction rating may look something like this: “24 dB” or “-24dB.” Both mean the same thing, which is that that particular headset washes out excess noise up to 24 decibels. You want to select a headset with a lower decibel number.

To check our headsets in person, we suggest Sky Supply USA at the New Castle PA airport.

How can I get on the schedule more?
Schedule in advance. The schedule seems to fill up a week out. If you know your schedule, schedule 21 days in advance.
You should attempt to be on the schedule more than three times a week.

Is it hard getting a private pilot certificate?
No, not really. You will have to put in effort to study and make time to fly. However, the entire process is a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
